Meet Emily
I’m Emily Mervis, after 15+ years in the fashion world—working at places like Bloomingdale’s, J.Crew and Gucci—I traded couture for canvases and picked up painting as a new relaxing hobby. What started as a fun hobby turned into a full-blown obsession when I realized just how many insanely talented artists are hiding in plain sight. So, I created Local Canvas to give them the spotlight they deserve—and to help you snag art that’s as original as you are. With a background in business, I’m passionate about using it as a tool to help these artists share their work with a broader audience.
